Bolivia presents a sharp contrast between

plateaus and high mountains in the west and

lush tropical rain forests in the east. Located

in the southwest, in Uyuni, Bolivia are the world's

largest salt flats. It was recently discovered

to contain an estimated 50 percent of the world's

supply of lithium just beneath the surface of the

salt flats. Bolivia is home to 20 percent of

the world's tropical glaciers that are located at

high altitudes around the Equator.  Bolivia is

a landlocked country, however, it is home to

Lake Titicaca.  At 12,500 feet it is the world's

highest navigable lake. Situated between Bolivia

and Peru, it is believed the Sun God ordered the

first Inca to rise from the waters of Lake Titicaca.

Copacabana, Bolivia is the main Bolivian town located on

Lake Titicaca. Formerly an Inca outpost, there are tours

available to the nearby Island Of The Sun, where you may

discover ancient Inca ruins. Bolivia is named after

Simon Bolivar, the independence fighter, after breaking

away from Spanish rule in 1825.  Bolivia is a constitutional

democracy and has the world's highest capital, La Paz, at

the elevation of 11,800 feet above sea level.

We recommend a travel agent or service

             for most exotic locations.
