www.theglobaldigital.com Nepenthe - Big Sur, California
No visit to the central California coast would be complete without a trip
to Big Sur. Many believe Big Sur to be the most beautiful coastal area in the
entire state. Nestled on the border of the Los Padres National Forest, there is
abundant lodging and camping. To many California residents, this is a great escape
on a hot summer day where local Big Sur daytime temperatures range from
75-85 degrees. Evenings can be quite cool and bringing appropriate attire is
recommended.
Nepenthe Restaurant- At one time, a home of Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth, it
has been owned by the same family since the 1940's. The food and service at Nepenthe
are excellent; however, during peak times getting a table may not be easy.
Our favorite appetizer- Laura Chenel Goat Cheese and Roasted Whole Garlic-Delicious!
For Dinner we would recommend either the Diver Scallops or the Nepenthe Steak
(8oz. Filet Mignon) Both are superb.
Do be prepared for a higher tab, as dinner for two can easily exceed one-hundred
U.S. dollars. The views, the setting and the food are guaranteed to give you a
memory that most will come to cherish.
